Well, we have the Diamondbacks and the Rangers in the World Series. Who would have predicted that?
No one on our site.
Siefert was the only one to get one of the series right, picking the Diamondbacks.
We got to watch some great baseball. I enjoyed Yesterday’s game. I’m glad to see Gurriel make it to the World Series. I’m glad for Moreno, too, but since we didn’t see all that much of him, I didn’t grow too attached.
The World Series starts on Friday in Arlington. I’ve only been to Arlington to fly in and out of the Dallas area. I liked Fort Worth, and I liked Dallas, but Arlington is a place you drive through and try to ignore. But I’m sure the ballpark is nice.
Anyway, give us your prediction for the winner of the World Series, the number of games, and the total runs scored. I’m picking the Rangers and going off to shower. Rangers in 5, with 55 total runs.
Now, there are things I like about the Rangers. Adolis García became a star right in front of our eyes at age 30, after being traded by the Cardinals (for cash) and then being put on waivers by the Rangers (with no one picking him up).
It reminds me of Edwin Encarnacion’s story. He is a player who we can see has great talent but didn’t put it all together until later in his career. A player any team could have had if they wanted him. It is one of my little mantras, bet on talent in the long run. And a player fans wanted to us to get rid of for the first few years he was here. When I hear someone say ‘Let’s trade player X’ because he had a down season, I think ‘But use your eyes, he is a talent, and you want to keep talent’.
