At 5:25 pm Wednesday evening, the Buffalo Bisons officially announced that Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Ricky Tiedemann had been activated from the injured list (ulnar nerve inflammation) and would start for them against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

By 7:35 pm Ricky T’s day was done. He faced seven batters in the top of the first inning, allowing a run on a hit, three walks, and a strikeout and never returned. He was removed from the game after experiencing left forearm tightness. I am not a medical professional but this, combined with his previous ulner nerve issues, has me thinking that Tiedemann may be out for some time.

Down one level, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats revealed that pitching prospect Adam Macko was also suffering from forearm soreness. The lefty has been placed on the 7-day injured list retroactive to July 5.

The Blue Jays pitching corps has suffered a small epidemic of elbow this season, with Alek Manoah, Jordan Romano, Brandon Barriera, and Landen Maroudis all having undergone some type of elbow surgery.

Meanwhile, in the big league team’s game against the San Francisco Giants, Daulton Varsho and Bo Bichette both exited early with injuries. The Blue Jays announced that Varsho was removed with a left knee contusion after a dive into first base and that Bichette left the game with right calf soreness, an apparent re-aggravation of an previous injury.
