GameThread Game #53: Padres at Blue Jays

Another (potential) *major league debut alert*

MLB: San Diego Padres at Toronto Blue Jays Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday wasn’t fun, but today is a new day. If we could hold the Padres to single digit runs, that would be a good start.

The Blue Jays have called up Jacob Waguespack, who was the return in the trade for Aaron Loup. He may make his major league debut against the team he was traded from. Waguespack currently has a 5.86 ERA in 9 starts for AAA Buffalo, so hasn’t really done anything to warrant a call-up. Justin Shafer was also in the clubhouse today but he isn’t active. I wonder if Waguespack is only here in case Stroman has a short start, and he will be sent down for Shafer after the game. Welcome to the 2019 Blue Jays.

Tim Mayza has been sent to the 10 day IL with left ulnar neuritis. The team believes he will only need the minimum of 10 days.

Here are today’s lineups. Vlad gets a DH day, but Brandon Drury is in the outfield anyway. Grichuk’s in center, and Luke Maile and his 0.00 ERA will get the day off.

Today's Lineups

Greg Garcia - 2B Eric Sogard - 3B
Josh Naylor - RF Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - DH
Manny Machado - SS Justin Smoak - 1B
Eric Hosmer - DH Randal Grichuk - CF
Hunter Renfroe - LF Freddy Galvis - SS
Wil Myers - 1B Lourdes Gurriel - LF
Ty France - 3B Cavan Biggio - 2B
Austin Allen - C Brandon Drury - RF
Manuel Margot - CF Danny Jansen - C
